Batam: short getaway!

1-2 Aug 09: went Batam with Margaret n family and also Janise n hubby.
A totally relaxing trip after my HKG trip. total spending for this Agent Familarisation 2D1N trip is less than $150 for ferry, seafood lunch, buffet dinner, hotel and 3 hrs of massage. So cheap~
Everything is not bad except that the massage is not as shiok. Not my 1st time in Batam but I've tried Indonesian and Thai Massage b4, even in SG, those normal facial salon provides better massage skills than this!! We were saying it's more of getting 'touched' by them and at e end of it, dun feel anything at all. We all fell aslp during e massage. Dislike e body scrub too! The cold liquid that was applied before scrubbing our body was smth i hate! we were in an air-conditioned room and it's making me shiver. worst part comes... the steam bath! we were in an unisex room. 1st i found Janise and her hubby in the same room. The room was smoky and all.. but we were shocked when we spotted each other. It's so unsafe cos we were only wrapped in a piece of bath towel. next, another indian guy came in too. imagine if my frens left the room already, will be me and e guy in e room. GOSH! how can they even provide such service... =.= guess only the last part of e foot reflexology is gd. one more thing is that they can't even speak English but Melayu. I have problems communicating with them. =(
The buffet food for e dinner was so-so only. Janise's hubby was lucky, won e 2nd prize for e lucky draw. another 2d1n stay in Batam resort. Bday luck! can buy 4d liao.. haha.
Disco - nobody one. music not right for us. not too 'old' not too 'young'. at 1st i was so excited, even included a dress in my bag for this special disco party. but my colleagues also nvr bring any.. magaret swopped her massage time till 9-12pm.. so she couldn't join us for the party. 3 of us went for 2 hrs of KTV instead since there's a room available. Sang from 11pm-1am! Lotsa Mandarin, Cantonese and English oldies. I enjoyed myself lots. Finally heard Janise singing with her hubby. Dun expect too much from e video... not original singers. We wanna luff at e video and some even jammed when we sang halfway. not gd. it's a treat from her hubby for the ktv and drinks, i was paiseh but accepted graciously.
Next day, we woke up early for e buffet breakfast. nice one. i luffed till tears dropped when Janise' hubby told the in-charge abt how surprised he was with the bday cake surprise given by Janise. OMG. it's obviously a made up story saying how surprised he was until he couldn't slp. where got so exaggerating! haha.. then he said he thot all e rooms also have the cake for special guest like us & he tot he wanna give one more star to the hotel, which made me luffed even more. back to the breakfast, it was gd, it was a very sumptuous spread!
Checked out... and dunno why we became the last 3 to board e bus. -.-'' they have brought the timing earlier. they brought us to the shopping ctr and told us not to buy too much things there cos it's not as cheap as the other one at Mega mall. saw a stall selling very cute tee - 3 for 100000 rupiah, it's like 3 for SGD15.00! how can i miss that! i bought 2 and Janise bought 1. =) went to have coffee break too. slacking at e shopping mall for abt 1 and 1/2hrs.
Then they brought us to buy Polo Ralph shirts and dried stuffs at 2 different places b4 bringing us for Kelong seafood lunch. lunch was not bad... i love the crabs, sweet and sour fish, kang kong and their coconut drinks! =)
It's in their itinerary that they will bring us to another shopping mall which they also told us earlier on, but after lunch on the coach, they told us we couldn't go there anymore cos we only left with 1/2hr to shop. and they sent us back to the ferry terminal instead. it's bcos the tour guide brought another few pple in our grp for massage and got delayed before meeting us at e 1st shopping mall. haix.. not well-planned!
overall, i still enjoy this trip cos it's quite e 1st time going oversea trip with them besides our company trip. =)
